Company Profile Company Profile Chaz on the Plaza Restaurant A Mission Hills Favorite Destination: that the hotels as well as the restaurants, and the chefs at the helm, have been featured so prominently in our society. In the case of a Mission Hills favorite, The Raphael Hotel and their Chaz on the Plaza Restaurant with Chef Charles d'Ablaing, the notoriety is well deserved. W Housed in an historic Italian Renaissance Revival-style building and named to the National Register of Historic Places, The Raphael Hotel has a rich history in the Kansas City area, spanning generations. Originally built in 1928 and becoming the well-known Raphael Hotel in 1975, the structure underwent a meticulous multi-year transforma- tion concluding in 2009 that incorporates luxury ameni- ties without compromising historic features and ambiance. Chaz on the Plaza, too, underwent a transformation. The restaurant's rich décor reflects an unfettered comfort- able elegance that fully embraces and is enhanced by the solid, cool vibe ascribed by a building having stood witness hile high-end restaurants have traditionally been included in high-end hotels, it is only recently by Jeanie Erwin to so much Kansas City history. The result is a one-of-a- kind restaurant that unfolds new facets on every visit. To complete the transformation, in March 2011 the Ra- phael Hotel and Chaz on the Plaza Restaurant appointed Chef Charles d'Ablaing. Recognized for a strong culinary reputation, Chef Charles served as executive chef at Web- ster House and his expertise is credited for helping establish the Hotel Phillips and its signature Chop House restau- rant into a significant destination within the local dining landscape. Chef d'Ablaing was featured at the James Beard House in 2009 and has been prominent in local charitable events and competitions. While it may be difficult to wrest attention from the stunning hotel, the fashionable moody-chic restaurant has its own allure—an irresistible menu that gets the balance of creativity and tradition just right.
