® RENEE THE SOUL OF A Running Stores Are Resilient in the Aftermath of Hurricane METIVIER BAILLIE COMPETITIVE RUNNER H urricane Sandy packed a devastating punch to East Coast running retailers, but in the wake of the storm the running community is showing great resilience and spirit. Stores contacted by Running Insight reported that the main damage they suffered was to their sales as most businesses closed on Monday and Tuesday as local authorities urged shoppers to stay at home. But as weather improved and East Coast residents started to dig out from the storm, running store owners are back to business. That is proving to be a bit of a challenge in Manhattan as store owners and much of the running community prepares for The ING New York Marathon, which is still set to go off on Sunday morning. Much of Manhattan is still without power and buses and subways are still shut down.
