Magnusson-designed El Jardin de Selene SOUTH BRONX, NY El Jardin de Selene has received LEED-Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Lo- cated in the Stage II Silver certified LEED for Neighborhood De- velopment Melrose Commons section, El Jardin de Selene is one of the first affordable housing developments on privately acquired land to receive LEED- Gold Certification. Developed by a joint son Architecture and Planning, PC (MAP), this mixed- use development was originally designed to achieve a LEED-Silver rating. After much consideration, the de- velopment team decided to pursue LEED-Gold certifi- cation in order to build a more efficient and sustainable building. In addition to a LEED-Gold rating, El Jardin de Se- El Jardin de Selene, South Bronx venture of Melrose Associates, Nos Quedamos and MJM Construction Services and designed by Magnus- Quick Read SunMaxx Solar has completed the installation at The Delta House. The install, which was designed by green developer Voltaic Solaire, is one of the first mixed-use private SunMaxx installs solar thermal system at The Delta House developments in N.Y.C. to combine solar and wind energy. "We met the stringent energy requirements for this project through a variety of sustainable strategies including daylight and occu- pancy sensors in common areas; energy star fixtures and appliances; bamboo flooring; green roofs at setbacks; recycled content; energy efficient windows; and hori- zontally distributed ventilation and solar panels on the building's roof," said Petr Stand, principal at MAP. The development provides rental units in an array of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments. Residents have access to over 2,000 s/f of community space, in- cluding a laundry room, and an outdoor courtyard at the second level. The building also includes 6,000 s/f of commercial space and over 12,000 s/f of structured parking. Healthfirst's offices at 100 Church St. achieve LEED Gold; Designed by TPG MANHATTAN, NY According to TPG Architecture, its new design of the offices for Healthfirst, a not-for-profit health insurance company, has been awarded a LEED Gold rating by the U.S. Green Building Council (USG- BC). The new offices occupy 172,000 s/f on four floors at 100 Church St. Healthfirst is now expanding to a fifth floor as well. One of the primary reasons Healthfirst chose this space is for its air and light; there are windows on all four sides and much of the space is day-lit. It was also important to both Healthfirst and TPG to obtain LEED Gold certification; as a company invested in issues of both individual and public health, Healthfirst's commit- ment to environmentally responsible design and creat- ing a healthy work environment was a priority. •for full story visit nyrej.com•
