FoundingDeanDoyleWilliamsVisitsUSCLeventhal LeveNthalews USC Elaine and Kenneth Leventhal School of Accounting Faculty, staff, and distinguished guests welcomed USC Leventhal School of Accounting's "founding dean," Doyle Williams on campus July 8. Guests in- cluded Elaine and Kenneth Leventhal, Dean Jim Ellis of USCMarshall, and the School's deans since its establishment: Randolph P. Beatty, KennethMerchant, Michael Diamond, and the School's current dean,WilliamW. Holder. Williams spoke about his work with USC Leventhal (then called the Accounting School) and its significant milestones, such as the creation of the Accounting Circle and the Accounting Associates, development of the Board of Advisors, and the creation of the Leventhal School News, which gave more visibility and recognition to the Accounting School and helped the school achieve status as one of the most respected accounting schools in the nation. Williams, who began as dean of the Accounting School in 1978, recruited and worked closely with many of our current accounting faculty, including professors Les Porter, Jerry Arnold, and Dean Holder, as well as former professor AndyMosich. Additionally, through his leadership, Williams helped to create the proposal that launched the establishment of the School of Accounting and also assisted in the development of the Masters of Business Taxation (MBT) and Masters of Accounting (MAcc) degrees in 1980, and the Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSAcc) degree in 1984. Williams' career included being profes- sor and coordinator of the accounting school at Texas Tech University, and served as interim dean for two years (1986-1988) at the USC School of Business Administration (currently known as USCMarshall School of Business).
