While oil stains were historically effective on exterior siding applica- A tions, they were never exactly a standard for exterior trim. Latex exterior trim paints have always been around. In the past, they held up well but could be difficult to work with. Some products in the new latex era have struck a better balance of performance and user friendliness. You can call them waterborne, acrylic or latex.
