Winner SHADES OF STAIN Jimmys Custom Painting adds style to scenery inside and out of this California home This first-prize winner is located just next door to the 2010 grand-prize winner. By Emily Howard elcome to paradise. Beautifully located right along the bay, this waterside crash pad needed to look as good as the scenery around it. And who else should you call when nothing short of perfection will do? Were not saying that there arent some great painting contractors in this area, but Jimmys Custom Painting is quickly earning a spot as a wood-finishing guru in our book. You might recognize the name as the TOP JOB grand-prize winner of our 2010 contest. The grand-prize project was an Asian-inspired Craftsman-style house W 36 March 2013 APC that had wood as far as the eye could see and it all needed to be prepped, cleaned and stained. And now, only two years later, he comes to us with yet another big winner in a project that included more wood finishing in addition to plaster and accent walls. Im not joking when I say its the house next door to his last big winner. This new construction project began all the way back in 2009! The owner once lived on a yacht, so he expected the attention to detail to be the same. Jimmy Wisniewski, owner of Jimmys Custom Paint- ing, was kind enough to give recommendations for other trades that would be needed on the job, including finish carpenters, plaster finishers and landscapers. A shop was set up in the living room so that trim, cabinetry, furniture, etc., could be built on-site. Jimmys Custom Painting successfully finished multiple different surfaces with an array of shades and products. The home was finally finished after three years. All the work was worth it, though. Not only is the project featured in the pages of APC, but it made the Corona Del Mar home tour as well.
